I usually check it daily out of habit. I often have the tab opened somewhere in the background (along with 329852 others 'cause I'm messy) and I pop in whenever I feel bored at work, and/or whenever I'm just procrastinating with my laptop.

I don't use Tapatalk, so I may sometimes be inactive for a few days at a time, when away or travelling.

I used to come so often but then social media arrived I have many good memories from when I was a newbie and this 4um was going craycray everyday. I wonder if the "worlds longest thread is still active"...

it depends on news or interesting topics, like releases.

so i check in from daily ( for example single release) or weekly.

The only other active forums I've been visiting lately are a fan Madonna one and the official Cher tapatalk group (also available on desktop https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/cher/index.php ). Do forums still have a future in the music industry?

I'm on one more oldschool message board (mostly lurking, though, I don't post there much) and it's still pretty active but it's mostly because the average member there is a 30-40 y/o indie/alt-rock music critic and not a Tumblr-savvy teen. Apparently the place is almost dead compared to its heyday of the early 00s but still last year over 100 people sent their ballots while voting for the best albums of the year, so compared to the 4um it's bustling with life. (Around 40 people took part in a Björk songs/albums ranking earlier this year, too — not bad since most were casual fans.)

But yeah, social media seem to have taken the role of the place where the majority of music discussions happens, and reduced them to "come to Brazil!!!!1!" comments under Facebook posts and stan Twitter memes.

I think so, I guess it just depends on the demographic and stuff. Genius forums is always hustling and bustling, so is KTT and I assume atrl (neither of which I dare touch lol). Maybe because they're not centred around one artist so much as music culture forums

Forums are probably old-fashioned, but I am also old-fashioned, so I like them

This forum has had some technical problems (still does), so I am not surprised if that has put some people off. But I like the fact that a forum creates an archive that is divided into categories. Social media is a lot more into the "now" which has a different perspective.

i just joined, so I've yet to have an answer; i want to check as often as there would be posts, the community i would guess, and hope to be, amazing and beautiful people, and it would seem so already i am an experimental musician and nonprofit adventurer...kind of out there in niche land i guess, which isn't a bad thing, but there is so much more that i feel like i'm missing as an artist just delving into experimentation... either way though, new the board, and a pleasure to meet you all

i would hope to remix any track, i have yet so much to hear of her music...i first got into her music from a sampling form an old iz and diz track, called emotional landscapes.... amazing music, so much of this world is beautiful. I want to understand utopia from her artistic perspective...

Welcome, exxoss, the 4um is a bit quiet these days, but hopefully it'll pick up if decides to release more singles from Utopia or announce more tour dates.

I just checked emails for notifications, so i check a lot, but i have yet to view most of the forum. so much beautiful art...i would suggest any, see the world; notice your daydreams...embrace them....i am sill searching, but animal collective makes me happy for reasons that i only can understand after i heard the music. I can only hope beautiful music shines freely anyhow. mail me about anything musical anyone if you want or can!

I absolutely adore that this forum is still somewhat active with a (very) small core of users. hoping that somehow, in a uncertain future, the social media monopoly will disintegrate or be atomized, and a decentralized internet will re-emerge. with björk releasing her 17th album at the same time, of course.

but That was a looooong time ago, I have to admit. Did not get into utopia, stopped following björk after vulnicura.
