Nature Manifesto (sound installation for centre pompidou)

Björk and Aleph will premiere a new sound piece, called nature manifesto at the Centre Pompidou Museum in France from november 20th to december 9th this year

the immersive sound installation, lasting 3:40 minutes, mixes Björk's voice reading a manifesto with animal cries and natural soundscapes. The work was created by björk in collaboration with Robin Meier Wiratunga, Ircam (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique) and artificial intelligence. the installation will be heard inside the famous Chenille, the Glazed Walkway of the museum

björk is also announced to take part during the "Forum biodiversité : quelle culture pour quel futur?" taking place at the pompidou from 20-24 november. anohni and aleph are also scheduled to feature during the four day event

The work combines Björk’s voice, reading her manifesto, with the cries of extinct and endangered animals, harmonized with natural soundscapes. I don’t understand all the criticism she’s getting towards the use of AI. Björk working with Ircam softwares and artificial intelligence models on a nature awareness project is probably the most called for thing ever.

I wish it was a proper song with Björk singing on it instead of some read manifesto, but oh well I’m not in France anyway. I hope us in the rest of the world are able to be part of this experience somehow.

I wonder if that’s the direction her music is taking for the next record... Those soundscape noises are kinda in the same vein as the material she’s been djing at her sets (Blawan, Mun sing, Sd Laika, Peder Mannerfelt).

People are concerned about AI being environmentally unsustainable but haven't really done their research and are just parroting the same stuff people have been saying on Twitter for ages. As far as I'm aware the AI software they've used is just on regular PCs/CPUs so none of that "using litres of water" stuff
