Here is my report
I spent the day at the Science museum and when I left there after 5 pm there was already about 20 person queuing to the concert - not bad, I thought. Thus I decided to have coffee and a slice of cake before joining them.
When I started to walk away from the concert building I recognized the familiar 30-40 Hz range triple bass sound - they were clearly rehearsing Hyperballad! The bass was really loud, you could hear it even several hundred meters away from the building.
Around 6 pm when I returned, there were about 50 persons in the queue. At around 6:30 they apparently started to guide the people to the northern side of the building because the queue would othervise block the pavement.
Few minutes past 7:30 we got in. I managed to get a second row place behind a tall person. I am almost 2 meters tall so I thought it is less nuisance to shorter ones behind us if we stand in a line.
The concert and especially the encore was very good. Björk went round the estrade so I think all sides were able to see her about the same amount.
The choir girls managed to cope with their microphone cables quite well in their various formations. They must have rehearsed this very well! Somehow seeing them collecting their cables after a song reminded me about the Minotaurus cave story.
As I said already the encore was the best part. 'One day' made me think how great it would be if Björk would be really broke and could not afford anything else than herself and this amazing drummer guy for the whole concert.
Hyperballad was quite the same than in the old days, I think. Even the red/green spotlights brought back memories.
Nattura was full of energy and now finally Björk had kicked off her shoes and was jumping wildly. Leaving out the Declare indepence was definitely right decision.
The 'surround style' bass was of course OK in Hyperballad and Nattura. However, in my opinion it was unnecessary used in most of the songs. It tends to drown the fine melody.
In general the sound volume was quite OK. I had taken my noise reducing ear plugs with me but found out that I did not need them. Actually the worst was the whistling and shouting of the audience in addition to the hand clapping.
There was an announcement at the door about the concert being filmed for the MIF documentary. However, there seemed not to be many cameramen around so I don't expect much about this. Naturally they may have loaned 100 cameras from Lars von Trier and scattered them around but in my opinion it was too dark for proper filming.
