Björk songs in your language!

Anything but English

Björk songs in your language!

Postby faber » Fri May 23, 2014 12:06 am

I KNOW THERE'S A BIT OF ENGLISH IN HERE, DON'T SHOOT ME

Simple and easy little thread : just write the name of Björk songs/album/dvd/even lyrics in your own language!

Just to see how much they change from language to language!

(Yes I know I could do this with Google, but who cares as long as we do something in this dead-as-crap period waiting for her next deliver ;) )

I shall start with

Hyperballad : Iper-ballata
Human Behaviour : Comportamento umano
Thunderbolt : Fulmine
Mutual Core : Nucleo comune
Sweet Intuition : Dolce intuizione
It's not up to you : Non sta a te
Play Dead : Fare il morto
Earth Intruders : Invasori della terra
Wanderlust : Desiderio di vagabondare

Come to Italy BiBi pls

BIOFILIA PO POLSKU

01 Księżyc
02 Piorun
03 Kryształowy (or 'kryształowa' or 'kryształowe' - adjectives can have different forms, depending on the gender, and it's not clear in the lyrics)
04 Kosmogonia
05 Ciemna materia
06 Pusty (or 'pusta' or 'puste' - again; depends on the gender)
07 Wirus
08 Poświęcenie
09 Wspólne jądro*
10 Przesilenie

* 'core' can be also translated as 'rdzeń' (which sounds way better to my ears) but I assume the title indirectly refers to the Earth's core. Anyway, it looks awful, because 'jądro' in Polish can also mean 'testicle'. So, "Mutual Testicle", if you wish.

Actually it's "Wspólne jądro" that puzzles me the most... I don't think I can even try to pronounce that.

Yeah, I was uncertain on that one. I translated dull as if it was referring to a kind of pain, but I wasn't convinced that was the way it's supposed to be. :? After all it's a translation of a translation (Russian->English->Italian).

^They are all so funny
I want to translate all of :album4: , beginning with the title:
Omogenico (it's also "wrong" in italian, it should be "omogeneo"):
1. Hunter > Cacciatore
2. Jóga > (well, this one is a proper name so...)
3. Unravel > Srotolarsi (awful sound :dizzy: )
4. Bachelorette > Nubile
5. All neon like > Come tutti i neon (not too sure of this one)
6. 5 Years > Cinque anni
7. Immature > Immatura (easy peasy :D )
8. Alarm call > Squillo di sveglia
9. Pluto > Plutone
10. All is full of love > Tutto è pieno d'amore

I always thought the title was referring to :logo: herself i.e. "Tutta come neon" :shifty:

That's definitely one of the most untranslateable is it even a word? well now it is titles she has.

:album6: in Tagalog // Filipino

it is difficult to translate most of her songs to my language, cuz it doesn't sound good. but i'll say that the titles when translated sounds like a line from a (Philippine/Tagalog) poem,

most of the words too are spanish based since it is hard to get the (real) tagalog/filipino translation..

1. Hidden Place - nakatagong mga lugar
2. Cocoon - bahay-uod / kukun
3. It's Not up to You - hindi ito nakasalalay sa'yo
4. Undo - magpawalang-bisa -- this actually translates to void or to nullify ---------------------another translation can be wasakin -- in english means to destroy :|
5. Pagan Poetry - paganong tula
6. Frosti - frosti
7. Aurora - aurora -- since we don't have winter in Philippines
- however, this is the translation by definition ilaw sa langit -"lights in the sky"
8. An Echo, a Stain -ulyaw, isang mantsa
9. Sun in my mouth - araw sa aking bibig
10. Heirloom -mana / mana't manang gamit
11. Harm of Will - pinsala ng kalooban
12. Unison - pagkakaisa

and as i am translating it, and read the tagalog words, again it sounds like a poem, when i translate it back to English.... so i'll try my best to form a poem from those translation(titles) without using too much on the original title. and added a lil words here and there. :-P for fun

The places are hidden in a cocoon,
Where it doesn't depend on you,
voided and nullified
from your unbaptized poetry.
(in the winter i see) <-------- 'frosti'
the lights in the sky
and the voices and stains,
are all lights in my mouth,
and all these legacy and inheritance with,
will be a flaw in the spirit of our harmony(peace)

Vespertine - Vešpery (if vespertine really means the prayers in the evening)

01. Ukryté miesto
02. Zámotok (or Kokón if you want it more scientifically)
03. Nezáleží to od teba
04. Nerob to (Undo does not have an equivalent in Slovak)
05. Pohanská poézia
06. Frosti (or Zamrznutý if Frosti means frozen)
07. Aurora
08. Ozvena, škvrna
09. Slnko v mojich ústach
10. Dedičstvo
11. Vilova ujma (if Will is really a name)
12. Súzvuk

Or something funnier! Debut - Debut in Slovak as well, but pronounced very differently

01. Ľudské správanie
02. Plačem (We never use -ing form in the titles, plačem means I am crying which matches with the songs meaning, but literally it is Plač or Plačúc)
03. Venuša v koži chlapca (literally - Venuša ako chlapec)
04. Život ponúka predsa niečo viac (literally Život ponúka viac než je toto - a very ugly frase)
05. Ako nejaká zamilovaná (this is a funny thing - Slovak has genders compared to English, so you can translate it in two different ways - Ako nejaká zamilovaná for a female gender or Ako nejaký zamilovaný for a male gender)
06. Veľký čas zmyselnosti (literally without meaning, metaphorically - Úžasné porozumenie)
07. Jedného dňa
08. Lietadlo
09. Poď ku mne
10. Šialene šťastná (Násilnícky šťastná literally)
11. Pieseň o kotve (literally Kotvová pieseň, but nobody would say it like that)
12. Hrám mŕtveho (for a male gender as it is written from the man's point of view. For a female gender - Hrám mŕtvu)

And now my favourite - Homogenic - Homogenik - Homogénny correctly
01. Lovec
02. Jóga
03. Rozpletať
04. Deva (if Bachelorette really means young unmarried girl)
05. Všetky akoby z neónu
06. Päť rokov
07. Nezrelá
08. Poplašné volanie
09. Pluto
10. Všetko je plné lásky

Hope you have enjoyed :)

07. Vírus
08. Obeta
09. Spoločné jadro
10. Slnovrat
