Things you don't care about (Be honest)

Just because you're a fan of :logo: it doens't mean you have to care about everything she's done.
So this is the place to share those things. You don't like them, but you don't hate them either, because... well, they exist but you don't care.

My list:
- All the pre- :album1: stuff. I really don't care about KULK, Sugarcubes, etc. Only exception: "Gling-Glò", because I love jazz.
- The "Drawing Restraint 9" film. I like the score, but the film just doesn't interest me.
- The :album11: apps. I love the album, but I'm very old school in terms of technology. I don't have tablets or smartphones, so I missed every iStuff :logo: has made. I'm stuck in 2004.

What about you?

- Tappi Tíkarass. Love KUKL and Sugarcubes, kind of like Gling-Gló.
- 'Like Someone in Love' and 'I Remember You', which she did with Corky Hale. Just too 'tasteful'.
- The videos for 'Violently Happy', 'Earth Intruders', 'Wanderlust' and 'The Dull Flame of Desire'
- 'Bastards' and the remix section of 'Voltaïc' with the exception of the Alva Noto and Matthew Herbert mixes and the Modeselektor mixes of TDFOD. The worst are the Omar Souleyman ones.

:album9: The only track I like on it is Storm. Don't even get me started on Holographic Entrypoint...
:album11: Omar Souleyman. Not my type of music, at all.
:album5: It's not bad, not bad at all. Just a little bit of an "unloved" album from me.

Yes that remix. Urgh. Feels embarrasing just to listen to it. And I think the soundtrack to dr9 wasted time being released, I feel we could of had an album sooner instead, and I was a bit alienated after that. Especially as they never released the bloody film! Arghhhh! I liked all her punky sugarcube and kukl and tappi tikkarass stuff. It was cool. It defined her early era before she went solo. We wouldn't of had the music we have today if she hadn't learnt from those musical days in bands. And it was good! I have most of that on record. :-)

It's oh so quiet: I have to skip it always while listening to Post.

Ultimate Art Edition: I have to say I don't get the appeal of it. especially when I could buy with the money a flight ticket, hotel room and concert ticket to see björk live :-)

I say, whether you like any of her projects or songs or not...all of it lead to the Bjork we have today. It's all part of the journey to make yourself the best that you can be, as an artist and a musician.

Back on topic - I've never been a huge fan of :album9: although I have gone back and have found songs that I like. I actually sing along to Holographic Entrypoint sometimes lolol. After Vulnicura though, I can't say if I would ever listen to that album again. =/

If there was anything I could complain about, I guess it would be gibberish songs. Dark Matter is an exception to this, as there was an actual concept behind the gibberish, or non words.

To be honest, at the end of the day I only care about the music - whether the songs are good or not. It all comes down to that. All the extra stuff - packaging, artwork, videos, deluxe editions, remixes, films, photoshoots, apps etc. - are just a bonus.

But if we're talking about music I don't care for - I can barely remember anything off Drawing Restraint 9 (save for "Storm" and "Cetacea"); I don't know most of the pre-solo stuff (save for some Sugarcubes singles and bits and pieces of Gling-Gló but I never actively listen to any of these... KUKL, Tappi Tikarras etc. are terra incognita for me), and I can't remember the last time I played Volta or Biophilia front-to-back. :album1: :album2: :album4: :album5: :album6: :album8: get spinned regularly though (even though maybe not frequently). And now Vulnicura has joined them.

But I must admit, I'm shocked at the lack of love for Omar Souleyman's take on "Crystalline"! D: It's such a fun track!

I absolutely love that remix, something with LIFE in it! There is only one other remix I care for from :album11: but can't even think of the name right now.

Nice topic !

I don't care about Bjork's fashion icon dimension - but the result of her photophoots is often visually amazing or sweet to the eye so I follow that.

I don't react to her saying she likes some art by checking it and falling in love with it immediately, may it be Avro Part pr Chaka Kan.

I love the metaphors she uses to describe it, but tbh I don't care how she fucks and how good it is.

I can totally relate to your replies.
Gosh, there's so many things I don't care about her. Maybe that's why I felt the need to open the topic... Hope she's not reading. :shifty:

- pre solo stuff except Gling Glo. But it's not like I don't care, it's just that I find KUKL Sugarcubes and such very boring :P

- The Debut and Army of Me remixes albums

- LynnFox videos :shifty:

- A lot of b-sides and rarities which I probably only listened to once

- :album9:

- In terms of songs - I'd like to say Mouth Mantra but maybe it's too early, uh? :P

Have to agree with these two - most of and most of. Some of the remixes do something interesting or surprising, some of the (soundboard) bootlegs are worth listening to. Fanmade stuff is not really my cup of tea but I certainly understand and respect people's desire to create something Björky.

I also don't care about the thousands of drowned in techno remixes.
I don't care about Telegram, expect for the Hyperballad Brodsky Quartet remix and "My Spine"

I'm not too much into the apps. I'm also very picky about remixes, not big into them.

When it comes to songs I'm not too fond of:

My spine
The anchor song
You' ve been flirting again
Album version of: All is full of love
The history of touches
I remember you
Like someone in love
Not too often into: Triumph of a heart, It's oh so quiet, Violently Happy, Show me forgiveness, My juvenile
I like Debut but its my least favorite of her albums

I love her apps, althrough I got my first i Phone only in 2013 to play them for the first time.

But of course, there are more things I do not care about then I do care about regarding Björk.

I care especially about her music and performances, I do not try to get everything, I am not a collector - I just want to enjoy her music without being addicted on her. So i really do not need to read every interview with her or to see every single photo of her or to buy every format of her new album. That is for me an addiction which is for me something not very healthy.

A lot of Medulla. Even though I love Oceania and who is it and desired constellation, it just got a bit too much. Literally no chorus or verse, ancestors is nice up until the point where the throat singer sounds like she is vomiting.
I appreciate how much hard work went into it, but it's not my favourite album

I adore :album8:
At first it felt way too over-the-top, but I liked the poppiest songs (Oceania and Who is it, of course); it took quite some time but now I appreciate everything in it, from the sadder moments to the happier, from the creepier to the calmer. It's so witty I can't help but love it: it conveys so many different emotions only using the incredible tool that is the human voice

I don't know if it's just me, but I like pretty much everything she has done, if I take the time to get it. An example is I Miss You, which I really hated when I first listened to it: I thought the song was reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally silly and I couldn't stand the video. But then one day, I got it, and I liked everything about its naivety

I must admit though that I've never payed much attention to DR9 :shifty:

EDIT: And I don't like many male voices, but Antony has a hell of a voice, I <3 their collabs :dizzy:

Kind of. I think I haven't assimilated her so fundamentally into the core of my being that I'm bored, or irritated by missteps, but I have enough to be enchanted and beguiled. I don't have much to offer to this thread but I agree with a couple of (e.g. Burnface's) points.

Hmm let's see

- everything pre solo apart from the 'cubes and Gling-Gló. It's more that I've never really listened to anything though.

- her latest adventures in fashion. I feel that all those complex dresses kind of weigh down on her while on stage and limit her freedom.

- artwork, of any kind.

- most remixes, both official and unofficial.

- her 2 soundtrack albums, I like a couple of songs on each and that's it. I make up for it by really liking those two though. ( Cetacea and Storm <3 )

I think that's it. I like everything she's ever released as a solo artist apart from :album9: and :album5:

:cosmogony: Everything pre-Debut that does not reappear on Family Tree or elsewhere post-Debut. Debut is called Debut for a reason, and while I'm sure some of her older material is good, I have no time for all of that. [I admit to having listened to Gling-Gló a few times and occasionally singing Gling-Gló the song in my apartment]

:crystalline: The video for I Miss You or any other post-Debut orange hair appearance (if there is any). Pre-Debut is fine, it's part of the whole punk thing, but after she went solo, no. Not Tori Amos, after all. I do like the song though, and the Voltaïc version is great. Speaking of videos, the ones for Hyperballad, Alarm Call and Earth Intruders are quite underwhelming. The videos for Innocence and The Dull Flame of Desire never happened and the one for Where Is the Line could have happened in a much much better way.

:darkmatter: Antony on My Juvenile. While the song is not that strong to begin with, Antony totally ruins it for me. Antony in The Dull Flame of Desire is fine [and on Atom Dance], but why a second Antony track on Volta? That's why I much prefer the live version of My Juvenile on Voltaïc.

:hollow: Trance [or rather, the hype around Trance]. I wonder if it would be held in such high esteem if it had been part of Volta.

:moon: The Biophilia apps. I never cared about those, though I like that Biophilia will remain in musical history as the first app album.

:mutualcore: Atlantic Return. It's impossible to listen to because it's just high-pitched deafening sounds, let alone get anywhere close to enjoying it. For some reason, Shimenawa is more listenable. The rest of the album is great.

:sacrifice: The Volta cover. I like the album, unlike many people, but I would have preferred one of the photos with the burning letters.

:solstice: Most of the singles cover art from the Post era, ESPECIALLY I Miss You Part 2, and barring Isobel Isobel Part 1.

:thunderbolt: No official remixes of Pluto. Hello?

:virus: The location of her tattoo  It kinna shoulda been a bit higher, you know? But that's just a lame quibble just so that I can use all Biophilia icons.

Haha

I was asked for honesty :D

I HATE that I hate Volta. I must have played it in its entirety six times at most. I'm not dismissive of it though, I try at least once every six months. Most of the time it infuriates me so much that I just have to turn it off within the first minute of Innocence. Some songs have merit but the album as as a whole is unbearable. I'm getting angry at the though of it!

Antony- nothing against him. His voice just isn't for me.

Skip Innocence. I do! You did say that some songs have merit. Make yourself a Volta playlist with those. I've shown you my Volta playlist, 3 songs short, 38 minutes of bliss, but you probably didn't give it a try. And that's okay. :)

No no - I saw your post and I think I replied? (If I didn't I apologise, I meant to)

My Volta play list would be very short:

EI (which you left off i think?)
VbV
Pneumonia

I enjoy DI live too.

I'll keep trying. It feels like the rest of the world found a hook that I'm missing.
