Postby Burnface » Fri Jan 30, 2015 3:08 pm

In celebration of Björk’s mid-career retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the release of the Björk: Archives book, One Little Indian is reissuing the Björk vinyl back catalogue, and for an exclusive period the vinyl will be colored to the hue that personifies that album character. After 5000 copies all albums will revert back to black vinyl. Released on March 9th 2015 and available to pre-order now!

In the shop every record has a description with random words ( :album10: is... wanderlust activist shaman feminist justice confrontational reactable brass tribal beats red neon green flags trumpets fire anthropology tribes boats bombastic; :album8: is... primordial motherhood humour family around campfire breastfeeding black braided hair bones caves marrow goth pagan archeology pre-civilisation folk dark brown family passive; etc.).

I think it matches the list that's on the back of the Archives thing maybe?

I don't even have a record player but I want these. I just don't know if it's worth it since all I'd be doing is putting them in a box probably never to be used. But coloured vinyl and Björk will be lovely. I might wait for the Vulnicura announcement to see if there's any £500 special edition first

I don't yet have vespertine biophilia or debut on vinyl, (or dr9 or greatest hits on vinyl) but they don't count. But I want the original releases of them first. I'm not sure it's worth paying out for those, just for the same thing in colour. There is more things I want to buy like the biophilia remixes on cd and the kukl 7". Both quite expensive, plus photographs and things...

I got the newsletter from OLI, they announced the physical release of Vulnicura, set March 9th.
They said that "with final artwork and details yet to be revealed."
What do you think this means?

I wonder why OLI doesn't offer a box when you order the complete set? And I sure hope OLI has finally learned how to pack and ship stuff without arriving damaged. OLI is the only record label/store out there who I do not trust with packaging stuff properly.

They refer to her solo projects as studio albums, so the soundtracks and greatest hits don't really count.

I'm afraid of waiting to hear of a US release and then the colored versions are gone...

But I hear you. OLI shipping, for the whole set especially is CRAZY.

I'm still sitting on fence of hitting the place order (for them all) button....

I know what your saying, but you don't have to get them if you have the original one's. Plus its a bit of a cash in really. They will be on ebay eventually anyway. Everything always is at some point, no matter how rare. :-) I want then to a degree, but do I really need coloured versions of the same thing? Not so much. I would only buy them if I didn't have them already.

Damn, if this was a boxset I would have bought it in a split second. I already own all of her vinyl releases, but limited color editions are so tempting. With Vulnicura, it will cost me $219 (including shipping) to the US. Which isn't terrible for the complete set, but like another user said, I don't trust OLI with packaging/shipping vinyl. I bought Vespertine from them a while ago and it arrived with two huge creases in the top corners of the sleeve and a large seam split, so I had to buy another copy from somewhere else. So I don't know if it's worth it to buy all these when there is a good chance they will get damaged coming all the way to the US.

When it comes down to it the shipping price is the cost of one night in a decent hotel, or one good dinner with drinks. And I'll have these LPs forever.

I don't mind the color as much as the shade chosen. It's neon green. It doesn't strike me as :album4: at all.... the big let down for me however was :album8: .... Brown.

Whatever, I really like the other colors though!

But I just need to say Homogenic looks AWFUL in green. It's not a color that suits the album at all, excpet for one song (Bachelorette).

Yeah, a dark, forest green would have been more fitting for Homogenic and purple for Medulla. Then I'd have clear vinyl for Vespertine.

I have 3 vinyls from Björk... Believe me, Björk music does not sound good on vinyls. It is like mixing together chilly peper and mayonnaise... But if you are a collector, I understand your choice.
