I'd have to say Desired Constellation.. it's more of a backdrop than anything. I'm not a fan of the contest videos either.

I did hesitate between Desired Constellation and The Dull Flame of Desire, but chose finally The Dull Flame of Desire because this is in my top 5 Björk songs and this is a so disappointing video for a masterpiece like this.

Innocene was certainly quite amateurish, I voted for that.

Some of the videos on the list don't belong at all here. Some do. Declare Independence is astonishingly dull for a Gondry Video. Cool idea (feedback loop), dull execution.

I would agree in general. But consider also the decrease in importance of videos as marketing instrument, the decreased marketing budgets and the greatly diminished role of channels like MTV. The 90s were best for nusic videos.

There are still great videos and directors out there though (think Florence+M, 'What Kind of Man')

I just rewatched Dull Flame, had totally forgotten how bad it is So the three runner ups to the Innocence video competition were given one third of the song each, why the heck did they waste the opportunity to create something great?

As bad as TDFOD was, my vote goes to Crystalline based on how disappointed I was.

I remember being all "new single with a Gondry video? oh god yes " and it was well... just there.

^ even if crystalline is not my favorite and I get the feeling of expecting something different , I enjoy watching crystalline: it's almost this fun idea of doing the complete opposite of this future-app-vision, it's like 60s-aesthetics,

Yeah I don't think it's a bad video, it's just that I had very high expectations as it was my first new Björk video as a fan and I was bracing myself for a mind blowing experience.

Unfortunately the past "let-downess" prevents me from appreciating it fully even now.

and …. is important to know the difference between a commercial music video & a background animation. the lynn foxx videos are great jobs on their purpose. ---- where is the line is an art piece, rather than a music video in a traditional way, made by a a visual artist not your favorite director, and i'm glad björk is open enough to allow non-mainstream artists to get involved like gabríela and don't give a f what fans or people in general may think of her decisions.

but FACT: innocence and dull flame of desire are the only "bad" björk videos simply because they aren't made by professional / vision-ish people, they are made by fans who can (or kind-of) operate a computer lol . innocence is really bad, i still don't know why they chose that video.. but yeah the other options were all crappy unfinished attempts, but I love that björk "the groundbreaking artist" has these crappy videos in her catalogue, demostrating that she's not as snob as some of her fans, although she knows way more about art than all of us lol

Lynnfox was commissioned only Nature is Ancient and Oceania, the rest were backdrops for the GH tour (source: an interview I remember reading)

I believe Innocence is the worst one simply because it's amateurish, but if the idea was done with the actual Björk it would have been cool

I mean, the first part and last part of TDFOD has a little bit of potential, but it is just repetitive, and the middle part is just ugly, and the three parts doesn't mix well one after each other.

tbh medulla era was great with oceania being the weakest but still enjoyable. true desired constellation shouldnt be qualified a video but then it was once considered a video so for the sake of objectivity i have included in the poll. volta era was mostly a disaster starting with that tragic earth intruders, then more tragic competition, then disappointing declare independence, only to be saved by wanderlust. not even gonna discuss how bad TDFOD is again. biophilia era vids are almost non existent, save mutual core. all this truly screams how much budget seems to have shrinked since the 80s/90s. additionally i saw black lake @ moma and it doesnt live up to its expectation. the marcel duchamp inspired trailer (which is nowhere to be seen in the exhibitiob) is way better than this self complacent poorly filmed vid. andrew huang doesnt know neither how to light nor to direct, so it just feels like a totally wasted opportunity at a great video.

Yeah the back-drop one with no in it was the weakest, but its still an interestimg video in itself. I love all bjork videos. All music videos actually.

i also think huang is like nice and experimental and colourful but to me its far tooooo vibrant and the storytelling is abit lost, like the huang videos have beautful pictures but IMO dont trasnfere the mood of the songs so well, but well hes joung and kanda a beginner, isnt he?

so mutual core for me is really overrated video. i think moon has much more tension and correct mood-transmition.

I loved mutual core actually. But it was very "over produced" video wise because it was for an exhibition as-well wasn't it? And projected in time square? Still, it was the best video from that period of time. Reminded me of the experimental way her older videos were made, in the kind of high quality that we always get from her. I liked the moon one as-well though.

I totally forgot the Dull Flame video existed. They didn't even include it in the music video collection at the MoMA exhibit. Yeah it was that bad. But my vote goes to the Innocence videos, which werent included either

I've been listening to since the start of the era, and I didn't even know about half of these videos. . I chose Lionsong because of all the attention on the wound.
I love the Innocence comp videos, btw. Especially the video game one.

i voted for earth intruders but i would vote for all the volta options there (except wanderlust and declare independence)

it was so disapointing because i liked the album at first listening. and then, when i watched the videos... damn.

earth intruders is just her face coming and going, i never will accept this as official video

innocence video dont get my hate at all. the contest winners would make an official video with bjork, but it didnt happen, because of the bjork team mess. and about dfod i guess only the second part suck, althought the third part is creppy is still enterteining tho
