Don't Play Dead - Vapourheadz's Play Dead "bootleg" remixes

Postby jp4151 » Mon Dec 21, 2020 9:38 am

Does anyone have any info about this obscure CD:

they are very repetitive remixes of play dead and don't seem to be recognized as official remixes, but curious about them nonetheless. I'd never heard of them before. Does anyone know about these, or how they are "infamous" (according to the artwork)

any insights would be appreciated

I don't have any specific info on this release other than that I first spotted it in the Björk section of my local record store late 1998 when I popped in to pick up my Alarm Call singles. Around that time it also entered the UK singles chart, but was already out the next week. I never read anything about it on the 4um back in the day, so unfortunately I also don't know what the story is behind the 'infamous bootleg' claim.

Hope all is well!

I hadn't listened to it, just gave it an ear and I think it's just a sample of the strings? rather than a remix (the part they used sounds more like a synth recreation tho)
