history of touches:
a screenshot of the vulnicura vr menu when the project was in the works shows history of touches as one of the upcoming videos (in grey) https://bit.ly/3r72fDv
an article reporting a video with chris cunningham https://www.billboard.com/articles/news ... al-reality

project w nick knight:
i can't find the link for that one, but nick knight posted on his instagram in 2014 that he and björk were working long-distance on a project. the photo was a very blurred pic of björk on her webcam and she seemed to be naked??

collab w tenores di bitti:
italian article where they claim to have recorded a song and a video with her https://www.cronachenuoresi.it/2017/11/ ... um-utopia/
björk says she was in sardinia in 2015 in a conversation with jefferson hack http://www.jeffersonhack.com/article/bj ... a-musical/

There's also the demos she recorded with Graham massey for debut before switching producers to Nellee hooper (massey shared a pic of the demo tape on facebook, I believe)

early version of post (the cave version of cover me came from this early album). bjork delayed the album by several months just as the original release date was around the corner...

There's additional tracks from Bjork's sessions with evelyn glennie that remain unreleased. in fact, the final release of Oxygen is the demo they recorded. Bjork came back into the studio to record her final vocals but they all agreed that the demo was more powerful and that became the final version. So in addition to the additional unreleased tracks, there's the "final studio version" of oxygen

Bjork and the brodsky quartet live at St. Georges', Bristol in December 1998 (show was recorded but no indication that it was ever meant for release...)

The recording sessions Bjork and the Brodsky did in 2000 (4 of the "strings" tracks from the Family Tree boxset come from these sessions - would be nice to have the full set)

And the brodsky/alec empire project was a 4-track EP that had various release time frames (between 1997 and 2000...). The tracklist was:

- April (could be all neon like)
- yoga (most likely joga)
- sod off
- 5 years

chances are the "remixes" of 5 years and all neon like that empire shared on an online mix in the mid-late 2000s come from this project (though according to Bjork, she sent alec empire stuff she and the brodsy recorded during the making of homogenic so there was no in-studio collaboration between the 3 as far as we know)

a couple of notes on the first post (which is a great idea, btw) --

- an acoustic version of Utopia was only ever a fan-wish. there was never any word from Bjork or her team about this, no leaks of info even. so this is not an unreleased project

- the only source we have on additional Vulnicura tracks is during the invisible woman interview (I believe that's where it's from). I always got the impression that the album as sent to journalists before the leak contained only the 6 narrative songs. In the article/interview, bjork says that she might add 3-4 songs to the track list. If my assumption is correct, that would mean there's at least 1 additional Vulnicura song. If I'm wrong then there are 3-4 songs left over...

- I believe screen shots for the HOT video also showed a menu selection for Atom Dance though there was never any mention of a director or info in any articles...

- the Biophilia visual project with Michel gondrey never happened, so there's nothing to release (perhaps sketches and proposals, but nothing concrete). The visual house/project morphed into the app album, so it's hard to say that this specifically is an unreleased project we may see at some point...

- specifically from Vespertine, we know that both Who Is It and Vokuro were originally intended for inclusion in the album. Thanks to an early master of the album that popped up on ebay, we know at least Who Is it was recorded. the issue with vokuro was that it was intended for music box but the music box plate makers never finished the plate, so we don't know if Bjork recorded her vocals for Vespertine

- according to the book wow and flutter, the only songs bjork and corkie hale recorded were I Remember You and Like Someone In Love, both of which were released. so it's unknown if any additional material between the 2 exists.

https://soundcloud.com/pitchfork/pitchf ... -out-bjork around the 42:30 minute mark. Note flutes only per say, but she said she wanted another version of Utopia similar to vulnicura strings with more virtuoso flute playing, though it seemed liked it was only an idea vs a project that she scrapped <3

I completely missed this interview!

in 2 years of covid they couldn't find time/resources to mix this album? i mean, all the material is already recorded...

Postby arucinluv » Wed Oct 20, 2021 12:04 am

thx for all the input guys. i'll update everything with details and sources later. keep em coming!
a lot of these projects stand in a shadowy territory and are open for speculation since they've been cited so vaguely. here's my 2 cents about them:

- an acoustic version of Utopia was only ever a fan-wish. there was never any word from Bjork or her team about this, no leaks of info even. so this is not an unreleased project
as cited before, björk herself wanted to make another version of utopia, but i have to agree she might have never finished it. my thoery about it is that somehow this project became cornucopia (but the utopia era is not over yet so there's hope)
If I'm wrong then there are 3-4 songs left over...
her exact quote is "Yeah, a couple. There were three, maybe.”(https://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/ ... revolution) so your theory makes sense. but it could be 3 other songs as well. we may never know...
- I believe screen shots for the HOT video also showed a menu selection for Atom Dance though there was never any mention of a director or info in any articles...
this one i searched everywhere and the best i could find was this (https://mobile.twitter.com/bjork/status ... 2731808768). but why would she make a video for every track on vulnicura but atom dance? again: we may never know...
- the Biophilia visual project with Michel gondrey never happened, so there's nothing to release (perhaps sketches and proposals, but nothing concrete). The visual house/project morphed into the app album, so it's hard to say that this specifically is an unreleased project we may see at some point...
she said in a couple interviews that she wanted to release biophilia as a double album and i think that extra material comes from the scrapped projects that became biophilia (the michel gondry project, the natgeo project and the art house project)
- specifically from Vespertine, we know that both Who Is It and Vokuro were originally intended for inclusion in the album. Thanks to an early master of the album that popped up on ebay, we know at least Who Is it was recorded. the issue with vokuro was that it was intended for music box but the music box plate makers never finished the plate, so we don't know if Bjork recorded her vocals for Vespertine
i'd say she never recorded it, but one more time: we may never know...

They recorded a five-hour demo of jazz standards in a studio in LA including a cover of My Funny Valentine. There should be also a version of Like Someone in Love without all the street noises, which were added later during mixing to make the song flow better with the Milk Bar toilets version of There's More To Like Than This.

Any source about this 5 hour demo?

they performed My funny valentine together at the mtv unplugged show, but that's all I've ever heard of this track (aside from bjork's 1990 performance at the hotel borg)

wow such a good thread!

a couple of notes:

i THINK coba #1 was a working title for some homogenic song that was ultimately released. it's more that we don't know which song it was

As for the meredith monk tracks, we know Bjork is executive producing a documentary on her life next year, so if those particular sessions don't show up til then i guess we'll know they were scrapped too :squid:

Yes omnibus was probably too niche and redundant as a project, glad we got the scorebook and the colored cassettes release instead

also, for Post we have an unreleased Hyperballad remix from The Chemical brothers, which became their song dig your own hole

re corky hale, she did a version of "life is just a bowl of cherries" for the film curly sue, but the director thought it was too out there for the film. i think she did one more demo of that song with oliver lake.

any source on a "professional" innocence video?

https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct- ... story.html
"Earth Intruders" was a 12-minute jam. I made a structure and shortened it into 3 1/2 minutes, and added Konono and Chris Corsano on top.

oh and frosti originally was written with a vocal part, though heaven knows what that sounded like... :squid:

There's at least 3 unreleased tracks from Homogenic, according to one of the work in progress CDr:

Image

17 tracks were worked on, if we count all the b-sides released there's a total of 14 tracks from Homogenic, so 3 are missing.

i believe the Nick knight session from 2014 was intended to be an early vulnicura album cover but we have no official info (i kept the pic all these years):

- does anyone remember some news saying björk made a 360° video for each song on vulnicura in a different nature landscape? or am i tripping?
in the same note, i have a theory that these pics from the utopia boxset usb could be from a scrapped video (these were taken in 2016 i suppose)
Image

- there's rumours about her recording a cover of "moving" by kate bush and "jericho" by joni mitchell in the debut days. were these ever confirmed?

- did ever anybody found out what "neptune" from :album11: was?

Those 360 pictures were said to be experiments with VR by james iirc, but who knows you're right maybe they came from a different sessions

As for other songs i think those were just rumors, i'm like 70% sure about the covers and 99% sure about neptune

great effort! thanks!

you eventually want to add the following:

- Trance (FLAC version)

- Travessia [Milton Nascimento Cover]

- You Only Live Twice [Nancy Sinatra Cover] [Shaken And Stirred: The David Arnold 'James Bond' Project]

---------------------

- The Love That Went Out of Style

- What Is This Thing Called Love? (duo with Joni Mitchell)

(Live @ "AT&T Presents 'Stormy Weather'": A concert for the benefit of the Walden Woods Project and the Thoreau Institute, Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, April 16th 1998)

some of y'all be saying shit on the internet for everybody to see and then complain about my post... anyways...

it wasn’t “shit” or “complaint” but fact. post did not leak on the internet nor it wasn’t “the first record to leak on the internet” as you claimed before editing you post. the first björk album to truly hit the internet before release was vespertine (not even homogenic although people used to trade by snailmail cassette copies of it).

and if you get so easily offended when someone corrects your claims, then maybe you should check your facts better before posting them on a public 4um...

i don’t care anyway. it’s your goddam your post - write whatever you want. björk is probably not releasing any of these stuff. there is a creative reason none of these saw the light of the day until this day and likely it’s because björk and/or her team think they aren’t good enough to do so in the first place.

björk farts on her dictaphone and some of you expect her to package the demo of it on a boxset.

sorry not sorry, it’s not going to happen, kids.

A few other lost additions:

• The Elgar Sisters, mid 80s - Supposedly an entire album's worth that was considered for a Bad Taste / Smekkleysa release around Sugarcubes albums, and even touted to OLI who eventually just used two tracks as 'Debut' B-sides.
• Union ChAPEL (W/ bRODSKY qUARTET), lONDON 1999 - lIVE vHS/dvd.
I've seen it all (single) 2000 - Full single planned but scrapped.
iT'S NOT UP TO YOU (SINGLE & VIDEO) 2002 (vIDEO PRE-PRODUCTION PLANNED, BUT SCRAPPED to MOVe ON TO 'gREATEST hITS' / 'It's In Our Hands').
Where Is The Line (single) 2005 (Full single planned, but scrapped in favour of moving on to 'DR9' - All considered tracks split over various released promos / white labels though).
• sUGARCUBES (20th anniversary reunion), rEYKJAVÍK 2006 - LIVE DVD.
• Meredith Monk collaborations mid 00s-ish (supposedly a whole album's worth that Meredith is still sitting on).
• Inez & Vinoodh - 'Utopia' era photoshoot 2017 (provisional early cover shoot - never released).
