Metaverse festival

I think the original topic got lost in the 4um move, so I have created a new one.

Tomorrow Björk woll close of the online only Metaverse festial hosted by Decentraland.

She will premiere the Sorrowful soil video and "some surprises for the fans" not sure if it will be an actual performance or something else. Could be a recent live recording?

Anyway, it is free, and she is planned for the main stage at 23.00 UTC (which is Uk time).

I think it is only going to be 20 max, as the next act is on at 11.20.

i wouldn't have my hopes up too much for this.
when you go to decentraland via the website you can see a json file with links to all the videos that will be streamed. BJork's 'act' literally seems to be all the fossora videos pasted after each other in a video: atopos ovule ancestress and sorrowful soil. it could be that something will get added but i wouldn't be surprised if her act is just fossora music videos

Hmm. Yeah the performance/festival aspect might have been blown a bit out of proportion… if it was a performance they would have advertised it a bit more, no?

Maybe she'll have an avatar onstage or something? I guess I would expect her to be a bit more experimental with her "debut metaverse performance", also given she isn't exactly new to VR/digital avatars (or even the whole idea / concept if you've read the Homogenic 33 1/3 book). It could also be cautiously dipping a toe in the water since metaverse hasn't taken off very smoothly

My old laptop is seriously chocking on the app, it loads the avatar thing but when I try to go anywhere it crashes. I don't really want to put the app on my work laptop, so i might just quit it all together.

Plus my twitterfeed now gets loads of bitcoin ads, which I am totally against. I can understand that Björk has always been a champion of new technologie, but Bitcoins and NFTs are really bad foe the environment and very unreliabl.

Yes bitcoin is bad for the environment but not as bad as many traditional assets such as gold, and many decentralised currencies are much much greener than bitcoin. Having said that, I tried the decentralised app and wasn’t a fan, it seems clumsy even on a relatively good laptop. I’m not convinced that this will be the best venue to premiere such a personal song
